What does Lucrat even mean? Where did it come from?

Well, I was looking for a short site name, for potential projects. The .at top level domain seemed like it could be used for a redirect link site.

So I started poking around to see what was available. I also looked at different words that could work with .at

I came across an old archaic definition on uraban dictionary:

Lucrat - An individual who possesses a highly developed sense of mannerism and style, whilst exuding both clout and social lubrication.

Wow. That stuck. A combination of lucartiave, and at. For all thee cool Cat's and Rat's.

Then of course. I had to level it up. Redirect links are old stale tech. Intelligent links are here now.

Lucr.at came out of that darkness. Every feature, every line of code built in stolen moments between job hunting, family time, and trying to keep it together. I built it the way I wish services were built: simple, honest, no BS.

Here's the thing – I made it free. Free forever for the basics. Because I know we're all counting each dollar right now. If a tool adds value it should be able to scale for free, and the few clients paying for premium features pays for the larger free userbase.
